Hello Residents of Shirley,

I hope this message finds you well. As we move through February, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving.

🔍 Local Priorities

Our current focus areas include:

VAWG - Uniformed patrol around Shirley park and other areas to provide reassurance to women and girls in the area.

Burglary patrols across Shirley in hot spot areas.

Theft from shops - Continuing to support businesses in the area by ensuring offenders are swiftly caught and prosecuted.

We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise.

🤝 Partnership Working

We’ve been working closely with:

Trading Standards – to help address Community concerns with Boss Mart resulting in £37,000 of goods being removed and a closure order being sought for the business.

Youth Services – Youth services to support outreach programmes for children in Shirley

These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Community Involvement

Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in:

Schools patrol – Streetsbrook School school patrols to support residents with safe and sensible drop offs and pick ups from parents.

Community Meetings – Each ward has had a Community meeting with opportunities to speak your local officer and discuss matters that affect you.

26/03/26 – Ward Panel Meeting for Shirley East at Shirley library at 19.00 hours

21/03/26 – Shirley South Ward meeting at Solihull Lodge Community Centre at 12.00 hours

🗞️ Round-Up from All Wards

Here’s a snapshot of key updates across our patch:

27/02/26 – Operation Advance saw the culmination of weeks of hard work to bring multiple departments from across West Midlands Police, including the Road Traffic Team, Safer Travel, the Mounted Unit and Uniformed officers in to the Shirley area to provide a high visibility presence and opportunities for Community engagement and feedback.
